Minibus Driver

Northampton Door-to-Door Service is recruiting for minibus drivers,  for part-time  as well as Relief Drivers to cover staff absences. Our drivers use specially adapted minibuses to transport elderly and disabled people to different locations in Northampton.

It will be your responsibility to:

  • Safely transport passengers from their home to their destinations whilst adhering to the specified schedule for the day.
  • Offer the necessary support and assistance to passengers and help them with their bags and walking aids if required.
  • Ensure all passengers are safely secured in their seats before travel.
  • Liaise with office staff as necessary.
  • Conduct maintenance/safety checks and cleaning of the bus.

Applicants must have a current valid driving licence with category D1, a positive, friendly attitude, empathy with elderly and disabled people, and good communication skills.

Refuge Support Worker (Out of Hours) required

Average of 23 hours per week

NDAS provides refuge to victims of domestic abuse.  One of our Northampton based refuges also accepts women who are also living with the effects of addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.  This refuge is operated 24 hours and this role is to cover hours outside “office hours”.

Essential candidate criteria includes:

  • 2 years’ experience of working in a supportive role with vulnerable families and/or children, or equivalent

  • Clear understanding and awareness of domestic abuse and the impact on victims

  • Clear understanding of alcohol and drug addiction issues

  • Excellent communication and report writing skills

  • Proficient IT skills

  • Current driving licence and access to vehicle.

Purpose of Post:

  • To work as part of the team to ensure the effective running of the refuge and providing appropriate support to service users who have substance/alcohol misuse issues.

  • Delivering advice and information related to domestic abuse.

  • Undertaking telephone assessments of applicants for the organisations refuge accommodation, outreach and groups work.

  • Maintaining computerised database of essential information related to the profile of clients.

  • To be responsible for delivering individual support plans, to service users enabling them to make informed decisions about their future through the key work system.

  • Supporting clients to move on to appropriate accommodation when suitable.

  • Offer advice and support to all NDAS refuge residents outside working hours.

  • Liaise with partnership agencies around substance misuse and recovery for individual clients.

Witness Care Officer – FIXED TERM (up to 12 months)

The Voice Witness Care Team provide a single point of contact for victim and witnesses involved in the Criminal Justice System.  In this rewarding role you will provide contact, primarily by telephone, to victims and witnesses of crime; offering support and guidance as you work to ensure witness attendance at court.

 

Job Description

You will be required to:

  • Keep witnesses updated throughout the prosecution process by providing information and support.
  • Ensure the attendance of witnesses at court by providing practical support, including travel arrangements, childcare, and other appropriate measures for those required to attend.
  • Undertake initial witness contact by telephone and maintain regular direct contact to provide up-to-date and relevant information.
  • Carry out appropriate needs assessment, record the results of the assessment and provide a tailored response to every victim and witnesses.
  • Maintain accurate case management records using dedicated IT systems
  • Facilitate referrals, where appropriate, to other service providers on behalf of the victim or witness.
  • Develop productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, demonstrating an ability to work flexibly, using initiative where required and the ability to work within a team environment.
  • Complete administrative tasks to ensure the efficient management of each case.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, adhering to deadlines and delivering results through effective planning and organisation of own workload, demonstrating the ability to prioritise and manage demands, even under pressure.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to change in the working environment by showing a willingness to adapt and be flexible in changing circumstances, seeking advice from others when change occurs and maintaining work standards as circumstances change.
  • Have an appreciation of the importance of confidentiality and safe working practice.
  • Demonstrate a level of awareness of equality and diversity issues appropriate to this role.
  • Have excellent communication skills written and oral.
  • Bring previous experience of working within a statutory, voluntary, community, private social care or customer service environment dealing with members of the public, successfully managing conflict.
  • Provide assistance to other Voice teams upon reasonable request from management.

Housing Support Recovery Co-ordinator

Bridge is a peer support programme which links volunteers who may have recovered from alcohol and/or drug misuse with members who have, or who are recovering from serious substance misuse problems. Bridge also provides a range of activities, events and support and our outstanding teams include recovery workers who support our members to sustain their recovery, as well as staff who specialise in advice and guidance on benefits, housing, and employment.

 

We currently have a vacancy for a Housing Support Recovery Co-ordinator. In this interesting and varied role, you will be responsible for assessing and coordinating drug and alcohol support alongside various housing options in Northamptonshire. This is done with the aim of reducing the scale of unmet housing needs and reducing the rate of unplanned discharge from treatment, for people with a housing need. The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring advice and information is provided effectively for external partners within Housing. You will also provide drug and alcohol information and advice with a harm reduction emphasis to staff and members across Northamptonshire, providing every opportunity to access our service if required

Oakfield Community was founded in 1981 and supports 30 adults with learning disabilities in their two homes in Yardley Hastings and Easton Maudit.

Our principal aim is to provide services that best meet the need of individuals within the community in which adults can be assisted to reach their full potential and to live happy, meaningful lives.

Oakfield (Easton Maudit) Ltd is a charitable company limited by guarantee and the members of the Management Board are Trustees of the Charitable company and Directors for the purposes of Company Law.

We are seeking an additional Trustee/Director, particularly with experience in Social Care to help us ensure the business is trading efficiently to deliver our vision through our professional  team.

We meet monthly, generally in the afternoon in Northampton and become involved in the life of Oakfield in support of the Senior Management Team on an as needed basis.
