Bank Counsellor / Therapist

We Mind & Kelly Matters are looking to expand our current team of bank counsellors. This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis. The nature of Bank work is such that the hours of work, and number of clients will be at the Charity’s discretion and will depend on the number of referrals. We Mind & Kelly Matters does not guarantee to provide any minimum amount of work in any given week or month of the year. Bank staff also have the right to decline any hours offered.

Our main counselling work is providing one to one counselling and psychotherapy services for a range of mental health issues and bereavement grief work, predominantly after suicide. We Mind & Kelly Matters works hard to maintain a “no waiting list” policy. Clients referred wait no longer than 7-10 days to be allocated a counsellor and begin therapy. Support is free to all clients, following a clinical assessment. Sessions are open ended and are reviewed on an individual basis.

The service offers both face: face and online counselling, bank counsellors must be prepared to offer support in a setting agreed directly with the client, whether this is a client’s home, or a bank workers counselling base.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Diploma/Degree in Psychotherapy/Counselling and BACP/UKCP or similar registration
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience post qualification
  • Experience of direct and online counselling work using Zoom/Teams or telephone work
  • To be flexible and adaptable, willing to respond quickly to organisational requests and client’s therapeutic needs in a changeable environment
  • Experience of working with clients bereaved by suicide, mental health, and complex grief
  • To contribute to regular reviews of clients with clinical lead
  • To maintain records of the client attendance and provide progress overview
  • To complete safety/crisis plans if appropriate and adhere to WM&KM safeguarding policies
  • To contribute positively to internal peer support supervision
  • To ensure professional and ethical practice is adhered to.

Northampton Volunteer Car Scheme drivers

The Northampton Volunteer Car Scheme relies on a team of volunteer drivers to take scheme members to get to their medical and well-being appointments.

 

THE ROLE

  • To collect passengers from home and drive them to/from their appointments.
  • To offer minimal support to passengers getting into and out of the car.
  • To ensure any walking aids, wheelchairs, etc are safely stowed.
  • To wait for passengers attending appointments or, depending on the length of appointment, to leave them and return later to take them home.
  • To collect mileage charges from passengers and account for all monies received.

Required Skills

  • Understand the needs of passengers of differing ages, abilities and backgrounds.
  • Understand confidentiality and GDPR sensitivity to the needs and wishes of your passengers and colleagues.
  • Good communication skills with a wide variety of people.
  • Be self-motivated and confident to work on your own, using your own initiative. With background support from Car Scheme Coordinators.
  • Able to work as part of a team.

COMMITMENT BY YOU

  • Be able to offer at least half a day per week as a regular voluntary commitment.

  • Adhere to current NVCS and VIN policies and procedures.
  • Inform the NVCS of any changes to health or any occurrences that affect your ability to drive such as insurance cover or a driving licence expiry.
  • Ensure your vehicle has a valid tax, MOT, and insurance as well as being roadworthy, clean and tidy.
  • Report any incidents or accidents affecting passenger or volunteer safety whilst on duty to the Car Scheme Coordinators or Community Transport Manager.

TRAINING AND SUPPORT

  • Drivers will be expected to attend a Safeguarding Training course and may be offered the opportunity to attend other courses as identified by, and agreed with, the Car Scheme Coordinators and Community Transport Manager.
  • A uniform consisting of a polo shirt and fleece jacket are offered to all drivers, as well as appropriate identification badges.
  • MiDAS Car and MPV training provided to all volunteer drivers.

EXPENSES

  • Travel expenses will be paid on a set mileage basis for all journeys undertaken, mostly paid by NVCS members.
  • The NVCS will repay any other genuine expenses (e.g. parking fees for driver meetings etc.) on production of receipts.
  • We ensure that drivers are never out of pocket for carrying out their voluntary work.
