Job Title: Bookkeeper

Organisation: South Northants Volunteer Bureau (SNVB)

Location: Towcester and Daventry (Hybrid options available)

Hours: Part-time (typically 15–20 hours per week, flexible schedule)

Reports to: Chief Executive / Board of Trustees

 

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience working as a bookkeeper or accounts assistant, ideally within the voluntary or non-profit sector.
  • Solid understanding of standard accounting principles and restricted/unrestricted fund accounting (Charity SORP knowledge is a major plus).
  • Proficiency in cloud-based accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail with an organised, methodical approach to managing paperwork and digital records.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data clearly to non-financial colleagues.

Desirable:

  • A relevant accounting qualification (e.g., AAT Level 3 or higher, ICB, or IAB).
  • An understanding of the unique challenges and environment of small local charities.
