Part of this work is to recruit potential Experts by Experience (or EBE’s) who can contribute to future Adult Social Care Commissions, Priorities or Policies.

To aid in this process, a FAQ sheet for potential EBE’s can be viewed here

An application form for potential EBE’s can be found here

Nene Vally Care Trust – New Trustees

Now that many of our Trustees and sponsors are retiring after being in role for 15 years, building our new board of trustees is a priority.  The Nene Valley Care Trust (NVCT) is a small trust that funds smaller CICs, charities and organisations that do not have the resources to carry out fundraising activities of their own.  The Trust is committed to supporting vulnerable young care leavers in the Nene valley areas.  Trustees all work for the charity on a voluntary basis.

The Trust faces significant challenges to maintain its sustainability – particularly in terms of income.  We are fortunate in having a well established working relationship with a fundraising consultant.  He works hard and raises a significant amount on our behalf – perhaps 55% – 65% of the required income.

This means that we need a very active board of trustees that is willing and able to take roles to manage our work and raise funds to fill the gap in our income.  All candidates should have time and enthusiasm to offer with particular emphasis on fundraising and administration.

Our working year involves:

  • Around 3 board meetings per year.  These meetings take place in Northampton and usually last 2 – 2.5 hours.  These are important in monitoring our plans, activities and finances.
  • Carrying out monitoring meetings with partners and contractors that we fund to work with care leavers – this is to ensure that they are suitably managed to do the work and that they carry out the work and use the funds correctly.  Such meetings generally last 1 – 1.5 hours.
  • Carrying out fundraising activities which most of our Trustees can be involved in.  These activities cover everything from bid writing and organising fundraising events to managing our website and social media.
  • Administration which covers a broad range of activities involved with managing our records and activities.
